- Total length 43 cm
The head of the axe is forged in a straight shape and we make it with four different types of handles to fit many individual preferences and projects. We have handles curved as “right”, “right-right”, “left” or completely straight. On the product picture we have a Timber axe with a “right” shaped handle.
When we are talking about a Timber axe with a “right” handle, or a handle curved “right”, we mean a handle where you are holding your right hand down at the throat or the end knob of the handle. The upper part of the axe head is then pointing to the left, as seen with the back (or poll, butt) towards you. This means that the knuckles on your right hand is given some space between the handle and the log when using the axe. In this case you usually also have your right shoulder towards the log or the wall. The “right-right” handle is curved even more, which gives the knuckles on your right hand even more space. The two last pictures describes the difference between the “right” handle and the “right-right” handle, where it is very clear that the knuckles of the hand are given a lot mor space.
When we are talking about a Timber axe with a “left” handle, or a handle curved “left”, everything above is exactly the opposite.
For the extra interested, our Timber axes is made out of SS 1672-08 tool steel, and the hardness 57 HRC.
The weight indicates axe head and handle. The handle is made by ash wood. The total weight might vary because wood is a living material that can have different density and characteristics, even though we make sure all handles have the same humidity.
