News: Ring tool!
Carving hook 40, 50, 60 mm has now got a friend: Ring tool 35 mm.
Description Ring tool:
To the new Ring tool you can also order a practical and hand-turned edge guard. Price 300 SEK (can be seen in the last picture) Write in the comment field when you order that you wish to add one.
A very useful and versatile tool that comes into its own when cutting out bowls and when working with burls, for example food bowls, but also ladles and spoons. Especially when working with the material in the transition between the side and the bottom of the inside.
Svante and Svante’s father Karl-Oskar made the first ring iron in the mid-80s. Over the years, we have received many requests for a tool of this type and now we have finally taken the time to develop a good concept that, with its concave inside, also makes sharpening easier.
Total length of the tool: 33 cm
Diameter of the ring: approx. 35 mm
The handle is made of ash and has flat sides to provide better turning power.
The edge is delivered ground, sharpened, and smoothed. Ready to use. The tool steel is heat-treated the same way as all our tools. The blade is forged with a concave inside for easier sharpening, with an edge on one side.
This type of tool might be called Scorp knife or Scorp tool, but we like to name our version Ring tool.
Description Carving hook:
Our large hook with a long handle. It is perfect for when you want to carve away a lot of material at once when going into a project, and you don’t feel like using a gouge or an adze. You can benefit from using both hands.
On the pictures you can see the right handed Carving hook 60, 50 and 40 mm.
It is the same handle to both models. The handles length is around 26 cm.
Total length 60 mm: ca 36 cm. Total length 50 mm: ca 35 cm.
The difference between right and left carving hook:
- Right: If you are holding the right carving hook in your right hand, you will carve towards you with it.
- Left: If you are holding the left carving hook in your right hand, you will carve away from you with it.
- If you are left-handed, the carving hooks will function exactly the opposite way.
You might need both of the knives since they are complementing each other very well. Sometimes you can’t reach with one of them and you don’t want to carve against the fibres, that is a perfect opportunity to try out the other one and carve in the other direction.
NEWS: Our Carving hooks have a new and improved look. The inside is now forged hollow, like our Spoon knife hollow.
