Description
The Chip carving knife has got a straight edge and bent spine. The blade is thin and the tip of the edge gives good control when working, in combination with putting a finger around the spine of the blade.
We make this knife in two sizes. The blade measures 8×35 mm for the small one and 15×50 for the large one.
Chip carving means that you first make a shallow cut in the wood to make a pattern. Two cuts from two sides and then you chip away wood in between the cuts. You carve and chip – carve and chip. And through this you are making patterns and shadow effects. The chip carving knife is also a suitable tool for making sculptural incisions or whittling small objects.
